Below are some Frequently Asked Questions about our rental services.

We accept all major credit and debit cards with Visa/Mastercard emblem on it. However a personal cheque or money order will not be accepted as a mode of payment. The debit card must not be a prepaid card and an additional bond will be required to pay at the time of renting a car which will be refunded on its return.

The renter must have a full and valid driving license that does not expire throughout the rental period. If your license is not in English, you must provide a current International Driver’s Permit. If you have an International Driver’s Permit, you must also carry your current valid driving license. If your address is not current with your license, then a valid document with your current address needs to be provided at the time of renting a car.

Yes you can. You can cancel your booking by using our booking link. You wont be charged if you cancel your booking 24 hrs prior to the pick up time. If you wish to change your rental preference then our Customer Care team will be happy to help you through the process and make the necessary changes. Please note that reservation rates are recalculated if pickup times, dates or locations are revised, and an additional cost will be charged.

In order to extend your rental period, you will required to call us. It may be possible that the rented vehicle may not be available or if it is then please note that the rates are subject to change based on your rental extension.

You may return the vehicle early, however we do not give refunds for the unused rental days.

You are expected to return the car with the same amount of fuel as when the vehicle was picked up. But if you want to return the car without refuelling then you will have to pay an additional refuelling charge (the refuelling charge is higher than the local fuel prices).

You do have an option of purchasing a full tank at a competitive local price at the time of pick up. This way, you save yourself the hassle to refuel the tank when returning the car and you also get a good discount for your fuel.

No, most of our rental vehicles have unlimited mileage unless it is a large or specialty vehicle. Unlimited mileage is available for one-way rentals as well as cross border and out-of-state/province vehicles too.

We allow small pets in our rental vehicles. Customers will have to ensure that the pet is crated and the vehicle is returned in the same clean condition at the time of renting out. Cleaning fees will be applied as will an additional charge for any damage to the car.

We provide child/safety and booster seats which comply to the child restraint laws of the country. At the time of booking, please make a special request for them, as they are limited and subject to availability. It is the responsibility of the renter to ensure the child and booster seat are fitted properly at the time of renting the vehicle.

Acceptable forms of payment


Drivo Rent-A-Car accepts the following forms of payment: VISA® MasterCard® American Express® Discover® credit and debit cards. Eligible credit cards must have the cost of the rental plus additional funds of $200 available to secure the rental, and the funds will not be available for use until after the vehicle has been returned. 

Eligible Debit cards must have the cost of the rental plus additional funds up to $500 to secure the rental, and the funds will not be released until after the vehicle has been returned. Use of Debit Cards is subject to additional rules and restrictions, please read the Renter Requirements Policy for additional information. MCU issued cards are not accepted. 

Cash is an acceptable form of payment at the time of the return only.

Additional authorizations from your account may be obtained to cover the cost of the rental charges. Drivo Rent a Car is not responsible for any overdraft fees incurred. 


After Hour Drop Off Policy


The hours of operation of this branch is 8am-10pm Mondays through Saturdays, and 9am-5pm on Sundays. However, renters can drop off vehicles after hours of operation. Vehicles returned after hours need to be parked in the designated area inside the facility, and the keys need to be dropped in the drop-box located next the entrance into the rental office. 


EWR: The shuttle service is provided to renters 7am-12am at EWR location. If returned after hours, please honk at the gate upon arrival and the security guard will assist you.


JFK: The shuttle service is provided to renters 24 hours a day. Upon arrival please leave the car in the designated area indicated by signs, leave the key in the drop box and the shuttle will take you back to the Airport.

Collision Damage Waiver


Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) is available for purchase at the time of the rental for an additional daily charge. The cost of the CDW at this location ranges between $24.99 per day with $1500.00 deductible premium and $29.99 per day with $0.00 deductible premium. Police Report is necessary for the CDW to be valid. In case of any damage to, or loss of, the rental vehicle, regardless of fault, renter’s financial responsibility extends to the full value of the car at the time of rental, as well as, but not limited to, charges for towing, storage, impound fees, administrative fees, loss of use and/or diminishment of value. If the renter accepts the CDW Drivo Rent-A-Car waives or reduces the renter’s responsibility for loss of, or damage to, the rental vehicle (including, but not limited to towing, storage, loss of use, administrative fees and/or diminishment of value). The rental vehicle is subject to the terms and conditions of the rental agreement and applicable laws. All waivers will be voided if the terms and conditions of the rental vehicle are violated, and/or in the events of negligence by the renter, while driving or in possession of the rental vehicle, such as, but not limited to, driving across beaches, rivers etc. driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs or any other substances that could impair the driver’s ability to operate the vehicle. Other acts of negligence include, but are not limited to, leaving the keys in the ignition while the vehicle is unattended, falling asleep while driving, ignoring traffic signals or police officers. The protection by the CDW may duplicate the renter’s existing coverage. The purchase of CDW from Drivo Rent-A-Car is optional and not required to rent a car, as long as the renter has a valid insurance coverage that covers the rental vehicle. The proof of such insurance may be required at the rental facility and failure to provide such may result in the denial of the service. 


Debit Card Information


Customers may use their bank issued Debit Cards. Customers who wish to use Debit Cards must provide the proof of their full coverage insurance policy, which covers the rental car. 


Deposit Information


Security Deposit will be authorized on top of the rental amount. The breakdown of Security Deposit amount is as follow:


Non-Local Credit Card – $200.00

Non-Local Debit Card – $350.00


Local Credit Card – $200.00

Local Debit Card – $500.00


Deposit will be used to cover, but not limited to, the toll charges, traffic violation tickets, late charges, fuel charges or it can be applied towards the balance of the claim. Deposit is automatically released upon the return of the vehicle. It might take 2-5 business days for credit cards, and 3-21 days for debit cards for funds to be available on your account, depending on your bank. 

Driver’s License Requirements 


Additional drivers must meet same rental qualifications as the renter. Additional drivers must appear at the rental counter with the primary renter. There will be additional charges for each additional authorized driver. Additional drivers must be 21 or older. Customers who reside in the United States, U.S. Territories, or Canada Customers who reside in the U.S., U.S. Territories, or Canada must present a valid, unexpired government-issued Driver’s license which includes a photograph of the customer. Digital licenses are not accepted. The driver’s license must be valid for the entire rental period.  Customers travelling to the U.S. from other countries it is important that customers check with the appropriate Department of Motor Vehicles in the States or Provinces in which they intend to travel to ensure compliance with their various licensing laws. The following practices are used to ensure the customer is presenting a facially valid license at the time of rental. Customers traveling to the United States from another country must present the following: Their home country driver’s license, and if the home country license is in a language other than English but based on Latin alphabet (i.e. German, Spanish, etc.) an International Driver’s Permit is recommended, but not required, for translation purposes in addition to the home country license. If the home country license is in a language other than English but not based on Latin alphabet (i.e. Russian, Japanese, Arabic, etc.) an International Driver’s Permit is required. In either case the home country license must also be presented. Customers may not rent a vehicle solely with the International Driver’s Permit. The International Driver’s Permit is a translation of the individual’s home country license and is not considered a license nor is it considered valid identification. Photocopies of Driver’s Licenses are not accepted, Learner’s Permits and Probationary License are not accepted. Temporary Driver’s Licenses may be refused if the renting location is unable to otherwise verify the customer’s identity or verify the authenticity of the temporary license. Additional Government-issued identification may be required. 


Emergency Roadside Assistance


Renter may purchase Roadside Assistance Protection (RAP) from Owner for an additional fee. If Renter purchases RAP, Owner agrees, subject to the actions that invalidate Damage Waiver, to contractually waive Renter’s responsibility for the cost to provide 24/7 roadside assistance (where available) which includes replacement of lost keys (including remote entry devices), flat tire service (if no inflated spare is available, the vehicle will be towed. Cost of a replacement tire is not covered by RAP), lockout service (if the keys are locked inside the vehicle), jumpstarts, and fuel delivery service for up to 3 gallons of fuel if Vehicle is out of fuel. If Renter does not purchase RAP, or RAP is invalidated as set forth above, roadside assistance will be available, but standard charges will apply. For roadside assistance call 1-800-328-7272.


Local Renters


Local renters must provide proof of full coverage insurance policy in their name. Cash, prepaid cards and money orders are not acceptable methods of deposit. Drivo is not responsible for any overdraft fees incurred. 





All Drivo Rent-A-Car vehicles are non-smoking. Renters returning with cigarette/cigar residue or odor, or with excessive animal hair, or returning the vehicle significantly dirtier, will be charged a cleaning fee of up to $350

***Traveling to Canada***

Drivo Rent-A-Car vehicles may be driven into Canada. They do not require presentation of liability protection letters, certificates or stickers at customs. A passport is required to enter Canada. 

***Traveling to Mexico***

Drivo Rent-A-Car vehicles may not be driven into Mexico. 


Child Seats (Infant, Child, Booster) can be rented at the rental counter for additional $9.99 per day. Navigational System (NAV) portable GPS systems are available for additional $9.99 per day. Subject to availability*


Pricing seen online only includes the rental rates and taxes for the specified dates. Additional surcharges, local taxes, etc. may apply. 

***Online Insurance***

Collision Damage Waiver bought online at the time of the reservation is not Drivo Rent-A-Car waiver. For claims renters will have to contact the website for further instructions. 

***Collection Cost***

You agree to reimburse us the fees of any collection agency, which may be based on a percentage at a maximum of 30% of the amount due at the time your account is placed with a collection agency, and all costs and expenses, including reasonable attorney’s fees, court fees, for any collection efforts.

***Reservation Guarantee***

Drivo Rent-A-Car only guarantees the vehicle for 2 hours after your reserved pick-up time. After that we may or may not be able to accommodate you with the vehicle, depending on availability.


Toll Pass Transponder Information. 


If you or any driver operate the rental vehicle and generate and unpaid toll, you will be charged for EZ-Pass Service Fee of $6.95 for each rental day the tolls are incurred, PLUS the cost of all tolls. The EZ-Pass Service Fee is capped $34.75, plus the cost of all tolls. Renters have the option of paying cash on all cash accepted toll-roads. Some states such as, but not limited to, Massachusetts or Connecticut have no option to pay cash on any of their toll roads. In such states the EZ-Pass Transponder Service will be automatically activated, and the renter will be charged $6.95 for each rental day the tolls are incurred, plus the cost of all generated tolls. Renters may use their own EZ-PASS, or other, toll pass transponders in any of the rental cars. 


Refueling Requirements 


Drivo Rent-A-Car customers have a choice as to how they would like to pay for fuel. Option 1 – Fuel Now, this option allows the renter to pay for the tank of gas at the time of rental and return the tank empty. No refunds will be issued for unused gas. Option 2 – Fuel Later, this option allows the renter to pay Drivo Rent-A-Car at the end of the rental for gas used but not replaced. Price per gallon will be higher that local fuel prices. Option 3 – Self Service, this option allows the renter to return the vehicle with the same amount of gas as received to avoid extra fuel charges. No refund will be issued if the renter returns the vehicle with more gas than the vehicle initially had. 


Rental Requirements 


All renters and additional drivers must be 21 or older and have a valid driver’s license. Driver’s licenses are accepted from any U.S. state or territories, from Canada or from an international country. Licenses from outside the USA or Canada also may require an international driver’s permit. International driver’s permits are valid only if presented with the original local license. International renters require a valid passport; the name on the passport must match the name on the driver’s license. Individuals with learner’s permits are not eligible to rent. This is only a summary. For additional details, please reference the Driver’s License Information Policy. AGE – The underage surcharge for drivers between the ages of 21 and 25 is $25 per day. NON-CREDIT CARD DEPOSITS – Debit cards are accepted at the time of rental with a with the proof of full-auto insurance with the rental vehicle coverage benefits. Eligible Debit Cards must have an additional 20 percent more than the cost of the rental plus up to $500 will be hold as a security deposit, which will not be available for use until after the vehicle has been returned. Cash, Prepaid Cards, MCU Cards and Money Orders are not acceptable for deposit purposes. Drivo is not responsible for any overdraft fees incurred. 


Shuttle Service


At EWR the shuttle vans are of White color with Ace, Fox, and Drivo Logos on each side. 

At JFK the shuttles vans are of Black and Blue color with Ace, Fox, and Drivo logos on each side, as well as Purchase Park to Fly logo. 


The shuttle service is available for rental customers 24/7 at JFK and 7am-12am at EWR. Upon arrival at the airport please call 855-550-0008 to request a shuttle pick up from the airport. For after hour drop-off instructions please refer to the After Hour Drop Off Policy. 


Supplemental Liability Insurance 


Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI) is offered at the time of rental for an additional daily charge. If accepted SLI provides the renter and authorized drivers with up to $100,000 in total claims. This is a summary only. SLI is subject to the terms, conditions, provisions, limitations and exclusions in the supplemental liability insurance of the insurance provider. Customers who decline SLI and CDW offered at the counter and fail to provide the proof of their own insurance will be denied in the service.
